Smart Financial Decisions – Efficient use of our tax dollars

Sammamish doesn’t need higher taxes; we need smarter spending.

As your City Council representative, I will fight to protect residents from being burdened by new taxes while ensuring your hard-earned dollars are spent wisely and transparently. The city’s budget challenges cannot be solved by simply taxing our way out. We need leadership committed to balanced budget and long-term solutions.

My Fiscal Priorities:

✔️ Eliminate Wasteful Spending
I will identify and eliminate city expenditures that do not directly benefit residents. Every dollar spent should add real value to our community.

✔️ Lower Costs for Essential Services
I will advocate for reduced rates from Sammamish Plateau Water and Republic Services, ensuring fair pricing for the services our residents rely on.

✔️ Smarter Development Agreements
New development should not come at the taxpayers’ expense. I will push for pragmatic agreements that contain city costs and hold developers accountable for their share of infrastructure and service needs.

✔️ No New Taxes Without Voter Approval
I will hold the line against any new taxes on residents. Proposals like the Utility Tax are regressive and should go to a public vote—our residents deserve a say. We should look at progressive taxes or usage based taxes!

✔️ Pursue New, Sustainable Revenue Streams
Instead of raising taxes, I’ll explore creative revenue opportunities such as federal and state grants and that align with Sammamish’s strengths—like a community center and a revenue-generating botanical garden that showcase local talent and attract visitors.

Efficient use of tax dollars is not just about numbers, it’s about priorities. I will ensure Sammamish’s budget reflects the values and voices of its residents.

Community Focus – Policies that reflect what residents actually need.

Sammamish is home to a diverse and growing community with 29% of our residents under the age of 18, and 10% being seniors. As your City Council representative, I will champion spaces and programs that serve everyone in our community, from our youth to our elders.

My Key Initiatives:

✔️ Safety and Security
Safety must be felt. Sammamish is traditionally one of the safest cities to raise a family but there are opportunities such as home break-ins that require increased investment. I will work with King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) to increase resources for policing Sammamish.

✔️ A Community Center for Teens and Seniors
A safe, vibrant gathering space where our young people can connect, learn, and grow and where our seniors can stay active, engaged, and supported.

✔️ A Sammamish Botanical Garden
I will advocate for a botanical garden that highlights the incredible work of the Sammamish Botanical Society and the Sammamish Stewards while also serving as an educational and eco-tourism destination that generates revenue for our city.

✔️ Shared Workspaces for Our Home-Based Workforce
With many of our residents working from home, I will push for WeWork-style shared workspaces to support collaboration, innovation, and local business growth right here in Sammamish.

Environmentally conscious, Safer Sammamish Through Preparedness

Extreme weather events like snowstorms and windstorms have left too many Sammamish residents in the dark—literally and figuratively. Power outages, property damage, and delayed response times show us one thing clearly: Sammamish needs a comprehensive and workable emergency plan.

As your City Council representative, I will prioritize proactive planning and regional collaboration to ensure our city is ready when the next emergency strikes.

My Emergency Preparedness Priorities:

✔️ Urban Forest & Vegetation Management
I will advocate for responsible urban forest management and shrub maintenance to reduce wildfire risk and minimize damage from falling trees during storms.

✔️ Regional Emergency Collaboration
Emergency response doesn’t stop at city borders. I will work to strengthen partnerships with our neighbors in Issaquah and Redmond to coordinate resources, share best practices, and improve regional emergency response.

✔️ Utility Partnerships for Resilient Services
I will push for stronger cooperation with power and utility providers to reduce service disruptions and accelerate power restoration keeping our homes warm, safe, and connected.

Preparedness isn't optional it's essential. With the right planning and partnerships, we can make Sammamish more resilient and better protected for the future.

A Thoughtful Vision for Sammamish Town Center

I support a Town Center that aligns with the vision laid out in Sammamish’s Comprehensive Plan as a place that enhances our community without compromising its character.

However, recent proposals to dramatically increase housing density and allow high-rise development do not reflect the values or priorities of our residents.

My Town Center Position:

✔️ Support for the Approved Town Center Plan
I support the original Town Center framework as outlined in our Comprehensive Plan—one that balances thoughtful growth with livability, green space, and community-serving businesses.

✘ Opposed to 4,000 Housing Units
Increasing housing units to 4,000 would overwhelm our infrastructure, roads, and schools. I will oppose excessive density that puts pressure on city services and quality of life without improving investing on infrastructure.

✘ No to 15-Story High-Rises
High-rise towers are not in line with Sammamish’s suburban character and pose real challenges to emergency services, particularly fire response. I do not support such vertical overdevelopment in our city.

✔️ Prioritize Local Businesses & Community Spaces
Our Town Center should be a vibrant gathering place filled with restaurants, shops, and services that residents love and use—not just more condos. I will work to make it a hub for small businesses, walkable streets, and community connection.

✔️ Create housing for our Seniors to downsize
Let's ensure that the Town Center has plans to house our Seniors in an affordable way. Our seniors wants to live in Sammamish near their kids and grandkids but also want to downsize. What better place to accomplish than our Town Center!

Let’s build a Town Center that serves Sammamish—not one that turns it into something it’s not.
